Dr. Marcie Nichols, optometrist/owner
Dr. Marcie Mathes Nichols started her studies at Iowa State University where she completed her degree with distinction in Microbiology, Immunology, and Preventative Medicine. She continued her education at the Illinois College of Optometry, affiliated with the University of Chicago, where she graduated with honors. She was honored with memberships in Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She was also awarded two clinical excellence awards during her studies, the GP Lens Institute award for Clinical Excellence and the ICO Clinical Excellence Award, which she shared with only 7 others in her graduating class by having honors grades in all of her externship rotations.
Upon graduation Dr. Nichols moved to the Twin Cities and began working at various locations in the area, but was always thinking ahead to the time when she could care for her patients in an ideal eye care setting with the highest technology, comfortable atmosphere, and extremely knowledgeable staff. She has achieved all of these things by creating Perspectives Vision Clinic.
Dr. Nichols is a Southwest Minneapolis resident, close at hand to take care of urgent eye care needs including after hours care. She is dedicated to the residents of this community and feels very fortunate to live and work in an area filled with such amazing people. You will often find her walking around Lake Harriet with her husband, Bryan, and sons, Hollis and Ambrose.
Dr. Lacey Urness, optometrist
Dr. Lacey Urness is originally from Montpelier, North Dakota. She attended a small rural school always knowing she wanted to serve patients in the medical field. She graduated with honors from North Dakota State University with a degree in zoology and minor in chemistry. There, she found her passion for optometry.
She then went on to complete her optometric education at Pacific University College of Optometry. As a student, she served as a teaching assistant and also held membership with Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. During this time, she received comprehensive training with a diverse patient population, which enabled her to enrich her knowledge in all areas of optometry. She takes special interest in urgent care, dry eye management, and disease detection and treatment.
While in school, Dr. Urness always looked forward to the time when she could return to her beloved Midwest. Upon graduation, she was able to move to the Twin Cities, which have always held a special place in her heart. She is a resident of the community here as well and is so excited to serve such wonderful people.
In her spare time, Dr. Urness enjoys spending time with her husband, Logan, and their two dogs. They enjoy trying out all the small restaurants in the area, taking the dogs to Saint Anthony and Minnehaha Falls, and experiencing the culture of the city.
